When I think about it..you may be right. They certainly had 'Magic Mushrooms' and things like that.
And as for puffing, I thought all Dragons did that!

"MacArthur's Park" too has been deconstructed into a panegyric to drug taking. Jimmy Webb may well have been an enthusiastic consumer of recreational substances but surely . . his song is about looking back on a life, however successful, with regret. Don't forget, folks . . only the completely over-the-top Richard Harris version gives you the whole of this sad, poignant lyric - even though the stereo channels are horribly badly balanced and the overlong finale sounds like ti was recorded on a building site. The various disco versions reduce the song to total banality.
