"Give us our Daily Bread"

Did you know, that as a nation we consume in the order of 11 billion sandwiches a year (that’s 200 each). But popularity is no guarantee of quality. Glance at most bread wrappers and you’ll find a gruesome list of emulsifiers, preservatives, sweeteners and fats. These ingredients make for depressing spongy loaves with long shelf lives, even if they’ve got fancy French or Italian labels.
I have rediscovered ‘real’ bread again after picking up a bread-maker for only £5 from Cancer Research. One of the greatest pleasures now, is to bake breads with nothing more mysterious than good flour, water and yeast
And of course the bread-maker makes a lovely warm place for a kip!.

I remember making bread at school. (Home economics) well, cookery class really!
We did not have a machine just an oven an boy, was it hot. You had to put the oven on full and leave to bake for about an hour. But did it taste good!
Two much sweating for me I'm afraid. Asda's own now!

Hi Annette....That was quick...I've only just pressed upload !
Not only does it taste good but the smell in the kitchen is hard to beat.

I have worked out why none of my comments have appeared onyour blog. They're not getting through but they should now. It's the way I've been signing off. Sorry if I have seemed rude, never popping in.
I have said quite a lot on here in comments that haven't reached you - about the Fish Called Colin, the cats, the cuckoo clock and the stove which I can't remember now.
There's one question: how can I go direct to this blog without going into my own first and clicking on the name there? I have searched Google for tracker bar but it doesn't find this blog.
Anyway, what a lovely garden and lovely cats. But do you really like it when they catch birds? Would you sit and let them, if they made a dash for something?
Hope you enjoyed the weekend sushine.
